To provide the people and wider community of Buena Vista in El Paso, Texas with educational services relating to the cultural life of the community, including workshops, exhibitions, lectures, concerts, computer-based reference services, and other communal learning activities in order to increase knowledge, appreciation and dissemination of our common cultural life.
The Centro Artistico y Cultural Buena Vista is a native-born nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Initiating our first arts program in Buena Vista in 2005 (a public sculpture), and incorporated in the State of Texas in 2008, the Centro is a joint effort of artists and resident supporters of the arts. Begun by Roberto Salas, born and raised in Buena Vista, and now a well-documented public artist, and M (Mark) Mueller, former MFA candidate in the UTEP creative writing program, the history of the organization is one of bringing recognized artists to this historically under-served neighborhood to make and exhibit art, give workshops, and empower participants to repeat the learned process on their own.
